Ship MVPs and production systems that don't need a rewrite at series A.
Most early code becomes production code by accident. We build it like it's production from the start — with senior engineers who've seen what scales and what breaks, working against a real launch date in your tools, on your repo.
The moments this engagement was built for.
Founders usually call us when there's a real launch date and the team to hit it doesn't exist yet — or doesn't exist any more.
You need to ship an MVP, not an “internal alpha”.
A working product in customers' hands by a date that matters. We treat that date as a contract, not a stretch goal.
The roadmap moved past what your current team can ship.
An embedded squad picks up the next big thing while your in-house team keeps the lights on — no morale tax, no reorg theatre.
Your last freelancer or agency left a mess.
We come in, read the code honestly, and either rescue it or replace it. We tell you which before we start.
You closed an enterprise deal that requires a feature you don't have.
SSO, audit logs, RBAC, data-residency — the boring features that unlock six-figure contracts. We've built them before.
You're between engineering hires and the wheels keep turning slower.
A senior tech lead and one or two engineers, on a defined sprint, until your new VP Eng ramps up.
Working software. Boring parts done right.
Every Build engagement ships in your tools, on your repo, against a real date. No theatre, no “coming soon”.
- A shipped product or feature. Demo each Friday, real customers using it by the date we agreed. If we're going to miss, you read it in the weekly note before you hear it on a call.
- Auth, payments, observability, and secrets done properly. The boring load-bearing parts that decide whether year two goes well. We do them on day one, not as tech debt.
- A named tech lead who carries the context. One senior on the hook for delivery — not a rotating cast of contractors. They run standups, write the architecture decision records, own the demo.
- Tests that catch regressions, not coverage theatre. Critical paths covered, integration tests where mocks lie, CI that's actually green.
- Code, infra, and docs that survive a handover. If you bring it in-house or hand it to your next hire, the artefacts travel and the new owner is productive in a week.
- An optional Run handover. When the product launches, we either keep operating it under Run or hand the on-call rota to your team — your call.
Embedded squad. One named tech lead. Your tools.
A typical Build squad is two to six engineers — backend, frontend, and a senior tech lead — with PM and design pulled in when the work calls for it. We work in your Linear, your Slack, your GitHub. Your standup. Your roadmap.
If the engagement starts with Discovery we keep the same lead through Build, so there's no rebrief, no rediscovery, no margin theatre. If it starts cold we run a short scoping week first — small, paid, and refundable against the build if you don't go forward.
When the product launches we hand it to Run with our own SRE coverage, or to your team with a real handover and a four-week support tail. No quiet abandonment.
Cost-based. Cash, equity, or a mix.
We price engagements at cost plus a small margin — designed to be affordable at zero revenue, with cash, equity, or hybrid structures available. Final shape gets agreed in the discovery call.
Build never lives alone. These usually come along.
Shipping a product opens questions about where it runs, how it's defended, and who carries the pager when something goes sideways at 2am.

A 30-minute call. We listen, we ask, we sketch the squad shape and the calendar. If we can't hit your date, we say so before you sign anything.
